DESCRIPTION:MuseumLab invites kids to turn “What if?” into real experiments on Saturdays\nIntroducing MuseumLab\, a pop-up science lab inside ScienceWorks where kids ages 6 to 12 turn curiosity into real discovery. Led by educator and former lab scientist Ash Friend\, these two-hour weekend workshops invite participants to investigate big questions through playful\, hands-on challenges inspired by museum exhibits. Kids test ideas\, collect real data\, redesign experiments\, and collaborate — all in an active\, supportive environment. \nEach session stands alone\, and space is limited\, so registration is required. A minimum of four participants must be pre-registered for a session to run. Parents are welcome to participate alongside their child\, or drop off and return at pickup time. SUMMARY:Making Music featuring Dr. Terry Longshore and 25 SOU Students
DESCRIPTION:T \nCoordinated by SOU Professor of Music\, Artist in Residence\, and Honors College Instructor\, Dr. Terry Longshore. In this inspiring project\, Longshore and the 25 students of his “Making Music” course in the SOU Honors College are designing and composing a multi-media\, multi-instrumental performance centered around the theme of “Memories\,” and invoking SOU Honors College’s 5 values: Curiosity\, Community\, Critical Thinking\, Creativity and Innovation\, and Civic Engagement/Citizenship. \nSpread throughout the entire museum\, the performance will map out the 5 values in different sections of ScienceWorks\, inviting the audience to wander during the performance and experience musical interludes interpreting the 5 values’ themes. Being a percussionist\, Longshore says\, “there will absolutely be a plethora of percussion instruments and sounds employed\, but expect other sound worlds as well\, including the instruments and installations present at ScienceWorks.” \nScienceWorks doors will open for this event at 6 PM on Friday\, February 20. Two performances will take place: the first at 6:30 PM; the second at 7:30 PM; each lasting 15 to 20 minutes. The museum will close at 8 PM. Audience members are welcome to arrive at any time during the event\, and are welcome to listen to both performances if desired. Admission is free for ScienceWorks members and SOU students and staff; all others are $10. A repeat performance of “Making Music” will take place at the SOU Percussion Ensemble’s concert titled “Toy Story\,” on Thursday\, March 5\, at 7:30 PM in the SOU Music Recital Hall.

DESCRIPTION:The end of 2024 changed everything for The Brothers Reed.   \nWhile riding a stationary bike on December 14\, 2024\, Aaron blacked out and was rushed to the hospital only to find out a righteous tumor had invaded his brain\, potentially for years and an immense surgery was required in an attempt to remove it. The prognosis was not good. \nNevertheless\, through the grace of God and the universe\, the surgery was beyond successful\, and follow-up radiation and chemotherapy eviscerated what was left.  Within 3 months of initial diagnosis he was declared in remission.  What most didn’t know was that he was told in a vision that he was going to live through this.  Almost immediately\, endeavors were made to complete the album\, “Long Way to Go\,” which we will be celebrating the release of as part of this show at the Historic Holly Theatre. \nPlease join us as a special band\, featuring Briana Murphy on fiddle and Nancy Martin on cello\, who will join Phil and Aaron to pay tribute to life\, love\, and happiness through the art of song on December 13\, 2025\, almost a year to the day since this epic adventure was set in motion. \nThis will be the greatest show coupled with the greatest album ever released by the Bros.  We look forward to a beautiful and historic night in the long career of The Brothers Reed.  Join us and become part of the trip \nDOORS OPEN AT 7
