Evergreen Federal Bank is pleased to be known as “the bank that’s different.” Founded by residents who wanted a bank to serve them locally, Evergreen was chartered as a mutual bank, designed to make a positive difference in the community where they operate. Founded in 1934, Evergreen shares a similar story to the one depicted in the movie It’s A Wonderful Life. As the country was emerging from the great economic depression, people needed a bank where they could keep their money safe, and they wanted lenders they could trust. Residents met to discuss the banking needs of their community and agreed that a mutual charter would best safeguard their mission of local service, which it continues to do to this today.
Upon incorporating, the board of directors held their first meeting, determined their lending policies, and began providing financing for home loans. At that time, Evergreen served customers from a shared office space on the second floor of a downtown Grants Pass building. Today, Evergreen continues to grow stronger than ever with their
signature Main Office Headquarters in Grants Pass, located along the Rogue River. In addition, they have five branches located in North Grants Pass, Medford, Rogue River, Brookings, and their new solar-powered branch in Ashland.
Evergreen remains committed to making a positive difference in Southern Oregon, which can be seen in the multiple projects they sponsor and events they host. Evergreen Federal Sports Complexes, the expansion of Asante Three Rivers Hospital and Spears Cancer Center, sponsorship of Rogue Winterfest at Evergreen’s Bear Hotel, and Evergreen’s BearFest are but a few examples of their commitment to our community.
From their modest beginnings to the strength they hold today, Evergreen has remained a dependable financial resource for Southern Oregon throughout the economic cycles of the last 90 years.
